Homoeopathy
Homoeopathy is simply the
medical practice of treating like with like. It is based on the principle that
we have the capacity to heal ourselves, and that disease reflects the
individual's struggle to overcome forces antagonistic to life. Hahnemann, an
18th Century doctor, discovered that patients suffering from symptoms similar to
those induced by various poisons, could be successfully treated by giving minute
dilutions of these substances. The homoeopath therefore builds up a picture of his
patient that matches the effects of one substance. Infinitessimal doses of that
remedy will then help the patient to heal himself. Sometimes Bach Flower
Remedies - dilutions of plat essences - are also used to promote mental and
emotional health.
