WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a completely passive pleasant state of relaxation very similar to, but not a sleep state. This natural state is a process used by hypnotherapists to guide the subject to a hypnotic state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, often using suggestion and guided imagery but only if the subject is willing, therefore he or she has the power at all times.
Hypnosis is often experienced in everyday life, you may call it “going into auto-pilot” or day dreaming, wherein we can become oblivious to other people and our surroundings, for example when driving, when engrossed in a book or watching television.
HOW WILL I FEEL DURING HYPNOSIS?
During hypnosis some people may experience a deep sense of relaxation and others may be totally connected and aware of everything around them, although relaxed, every individual’s experience may be unique, hence there is no such thing as a ‘hypnotised feeling’. Some people worry they will lose control but this not so, they will be in full control of their mind and body and be able to function normally, hear what is being said and would be able to resist any unwelcome suggestions.
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Whilst in the relaxed state of hypnosis hypnotherapy may be applied whereby with the help of various tools, techniques and resources communication with both the conscious and the subconscious mind is facilitated to discover cause to enable conflicts and symptoms to be resolved.
These conflicts are buried deep within our subconscious where our emotions and instincts live which may often disrupt our daily lives resulting in symptoms, the hypnotherapist may guide the subject to access these emotions and instincts and help make changes to find resolution whilst offering motivation for a better outlook on life.
Hypnotherapy is completely safe and the subject will suffer no side effects, only positive outcomes, the subject will be in complete control at all times and will not say or do anything they do not want. What you see on stage acts is exactly that, an act for entertainment value and the subject has chosen to and wants to act in this way.
